TIKTOK Story - Laura Wisconsin, USA

I was born with tight naturally curly hair in the 70's and growing up in the 80's I had no idea how to style my hair and we didn't have products or tools that exist today. All I ever wanted was to look like the other girls with straight silky hair.  I had kinky, unruly hair that was different. That lead to a life long journey of blow drying, ironing (with a clothes iron), countless chemical straighteners and overall butchering my natural hair. To today only wanting to get out of the shower and have my hair air dry and be easy, however I am left with thinning, damaged part curly, part straight, part wavy and part frizzy hair. It was just a MESS.

I have explored so many things to help me just feel normal and natural. From toppers and extensions to even full-blown wigs, I was at the point of just wanting to shave my head and wear a wig 24/7, then I found Wild Woman Locs on TikTok.

I just wanted my hair to look normal. To have it look pretty without spending hours and hours trying to attain it and it never happening. I just really hated my hair. The color, the texture, the damage, all of it, I just hated it.  Strong words and I didn't realize how it had damaged my mental health until after getting my Locs. 

I could have just ordered my kit and watched the tutorial because all the information provided is thoughtfully designed to empower us to do it on our own. But I took it one step further...I planned the ultimate trip with a friend and got on a plane from Wisconsin to Tennessee to get my hair done!

Let me tell you it was so much more than I had hoped for! Not only did I get to spend a couple days with my dear friend, who is also a mom to busy teenagers, I got my dream hair! The process was seamless from them picking us up at the airport to spoiling us with a spread of veggies and treats to hours of talking and being pampered while getting my beautiful Locs installed. 

The weirdest thing about this experience you would think was taking a plane to meet someone from TikTok and getting my hair done when I have never even gone more than 1 hour to see a stylist, nope... the weirdest thing was actually FEELING HAIR on my head. It has been over 20 years since I have felt what it was like to actually have hair. The curls are beautiful and very natural, Natura matched the color I wanted PERFECTLY! They changed more than my hair, I feel beautiful again!
